Attendance Log  View Printable Version
Monday, August 24 2009 @ 08:56 AM Central Daylight Time
Contributed by: bcbrock

PowerSchoolAttendance Clerks - you can now add comments regarding attendance via the Log Entries feature in PowerSchool.

How to add a log entry:
[Select student] > Log Entries > Click New

Modify the Date / Time / Author fields if necessary. (I would certainly change the date field to match the date of the attendance issue. I would also change the time field if you want the log entry to corrospond with a certain period of the day)

Enter a title, and the comment in the "Log Entry Text" box.

Leave all other fields alone.

Click Submit at the bottom of the page.

How to search for Log Entries:
To view the log entries for a specific student, use the same procedure detailed above. On the page where the New button is, all their log entries will be displayed.

To SEARCH for log entries...

Start Page > Special Functions > Search Log Entries

Enter any search criteria and click Submit

Contributed by: bcbrock

PowerSchoolWhether or not a student has an IEP is a piece of information that must be reported to the state. We can therefore use the state IEP field to identify students that have an IEP.

[Select Student] > State/Province - IA > Fall/Spring Submission > D0290 - IEP Indicator*

To get a list of students that have either a "PK Instructional IEP or K-12 any IEP" OR a "PK Support Services Only", enter the following into the Start Page:

IA_IEP # 0

UPDATED: 4/7/2009

Test Server is ready to play!  View Printable Version
Friday, January 30 2009 @ 09:41 AM Central Standard Time
Contributed by: bcbrock

PowerSchoolI am happy to inform you of two developments towards our implementation of PowerSchool.

First, I have set up a new section on the help desk web site for PowerSchool. As we begin our implementation of PowerSchool, I will be posting blog-style stories at this address to keep you informed of our progress. The PowerSchool user guides are also posted on this page.

You can find it at http://helpdesk.muscatine.k12.ia.us/index.php?topic=powerschool

Secondly, I have set up a test server with PowerSchool loaded on it so that you can play around with it a bit. The test server has DEMO data loaded onto it, so it is not configured for our district in any way.

The PowerSchool test server is accessible only from within the School District – you will not be able to access it from home.

PowerSchool has three separate log-in pages for the three different groups of people that will interact with the server: Administrative, Teachers, and Parents/Students. Feel free to log in as any of the accounts listed below so you can see what each level of user will be seeing when we begin to use PowerSchool this fall. You may also feel free to change any information you would like – you can’t break it. Since this is demo data, I can always restore the data if needed.

If you have questions, the user guides are posted on the Help Desk web site. Also, in most portions of PowerSchool, there is a round button in the upper right corner with a question mark in it. Clicking this button will display online documentation specific to the screen you are currently on. Sorry, the Technology Department is not prepared to offer technical support at this time.
